Pressing into the Harvest

Nick and Shirley McSpadden have been serving together in ministry since they were married in 1995. The McSpaddens have based their ministry on Phillipians 3:14 where the Apostle Paul declared I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!

Nick McSpadden was wonderfully set free from the bondage of alcoholism at the age of 22 in July of 1985. After serving in the United States Air Force for four years he came home to Decatur, Tennessee knowing that the Lord was speaking to him concerning his life. Just three short months after his conversion he heard the call to preach during a revival service. While a member of the Watts Bar Church of God in Ten Mile, Tennessee God was preparing his heart to become an Evangelist.

Since he began his ministry as an Evangelist he has had the privilege of ministering in twenty three states and traveling to ten countries to share the love of God through His son Jesus! This August he will begin his 19th year of full-time ministry. During that time he has spoken in six different denominations as well as many other organizations. He is an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God International with offices in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Along with their eleven year old daughter Jessica and their five year old son Nicholas, the McSpaddens make their home and ministry headquarters in Russellville, Alabama. They continue to press toward the mark by traveling many weeks out of the year to bring the fires of revival to local churches or embarking on a foreign mission trip to continue their faithful labor for Christ!

The call to World Missions and Evangelism has been touching the hearts of both Nick and Shirley since they were young. The Lord touched Shirley's heart in her elementary school years with the desire to do missions. Nick also was touched for the nations while very young in the faith as a 23 year old man. In the last few years they have started seeing the impact of continual ministry in Mexico and Bulgaria.

Doing around 35 revivals a year and at least four mission trips a year the McSpaddens continue to sew the good news into many lives. With a burning desire to make known the hope, deliverance, and fullness found in Jesus Christ they pursue His presence and keep their eyes focused on the fields of harvest. As they preach, teach, and minister in song the McSpaddens have remained faithful to the call they have felt as a family. The high call of God has driven them to answer with all their hearts and energy as they take on new challenges to bring glory to God and converted souls into the kingdom.

Declaration of Faith:

The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We Believe:

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
  • In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
  • Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.
  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
  • In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
  • Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
  • In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.
  • In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
